Cape Coral
Located along the Caloosahatchee River in Southwest Florida, Cape Coral is the largest city in Florida between Tampa and Miami. Founded in 1957 and developed as a planned community, the city has an area of approximately 120 square miles and contains over 400 miles of navigable waterways. The city is known as a “Waterfront Wonderland” as a result of its vast canal system, many of which lead to the Gulf of Mexico.
Unlike many other areas in Southwest Florida, Cape Coral has very few gated communities. Most of the homes in Cape Coral are single family residences on a non-gated public roadway. There are many housing types in Cape Coral. Single family residences, garden style condos, high rise condos, townhomes, and villas are all prevalent. Boaters and fisherman are particularly drawn to Cape Coral because of its vast canal system and availability of gulf access homesites. In addition, Cape Coral has outstanding recreational facilities and parks.
Historically, Cape Coral has primarily been a residential community with very few commercial roadways. As the community has expanded, its internal economy has grown and businesses have opened and prospered in the Cape. There are two bridges that connect the city to Fort Myers, The Cape Coral Bridge and The Mid-Point Bridge. The Mid-Point Bridge provides high speed travel and connects to Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers, which leads to I-75.
